The Cripps Rules and Format

The Cripps is an 18-hole point system based on the following point structure for each hole:
  • Double Eagle = 10 Points
  • Eagle = 8 Points
  • Birdie = 4 Points
  • Par = 2 Points
  • Bogie = 1 Point
  • Double Bogie or worse = 0 Points

Points
  • Average points are determined by looking at the last seven (7) rounds, eliminating the high and low scores, then dividing the total points of the remaining 5 rounds in the Big Group by 5.
  • Four or more scores must be posted to use points.
  • If less than four scores have been posted, determine point average by subtracting the current course handicap from 36.
  • If fewer than 4 scores have been posted in the last 90 days, player does not participate in the individual medal, and his points do not figure in the team medal, however the player DOES participate on all other team competitions.

Rank
Individual rank is determined by point average. Person with the highest average is #1, 2nd high is #2, etc... Coin flip is used to break ties as required.

Team Make Up
The team make up is set by the number of captains/teams, and then in order until the last player(s) of the group(s) are assigned to each team. For example, if there are eight players (two foursomes), team 1 would contain players (by ranking) 1,4,5 and team 2 would contain 2,3,6. Then these point totals are compared in order to assign the stonger of the two remaining players to the weaker (by point total) of the two teams. This supercedes the automatic numbering/ranking system for the last players in the team makeup. The breakdown is as follows:

Number of PlayersBreakdown of Teams by player rankDescription/breakdown of last players assigned
